Y5 homework

Mrs May’s maths group

There were some misconceptions on last week’s homework. We have reviewed this since and you should now have a clearer understanding.

Go back over your homework and check and change any answers you got wrong.

For those of you who didn’t get many questions wrong you can do the Mymaths tasks, after you have corrected any mistakes on last week’s homework.

Mr Bedford’s Maths Group
Last week you took some assessment papers. You all did well – congratulations. Your homework task is to review the questions you got wrong. Try to find your errors and correct them (using a different pen). If you are still struggling with the problem come to school on Wednesday with a prepared question. Remember, Mymaths Library will give you a short lesson on any area on which you require revision.

For those of you who didn’t get many questions wrong you can do an extension task:

Pick some questions from the reasoning papers and create your own questions in a similar style. These will be used to challenge your classmates in the coming weeks. Remember, you should provide a written solution to your own question.

Mrs May and Mr Bedford’s English Groups.

I have provided you with two short pages from our ‘King Kong’ class text. Your homework is to produce a table of word classes. Eg:

Verbs Proper nouns Common nouns Pro-nouns Adjectives Adverbs Conjunctions Prepositions Not sure

You might also want to colour code the text.

Spelling: I have returned this week’s spelling test to you. Your task is to find the correct spelling of the words you got incorrect. You should choose between 5 and 10 of these words to correct and learn. If you made fewer errors than this I would like you to continue to learn the words on the statutory spelling list for years 5 & 6. Again choose between 5 and 10 to learn.

Homework for this week is to learn the words to our song and your assembly words off by heart in preparation for practising next week.

Homework for this week is stuck into your homework books. There are two activities to complete. You can choose whether to complete A, B or C on both activities. Show working out where necessary.

Mr Bedford

For homework this week you asked for an arithmetic paper. The Year 5 challenge is too easy for you now so I have set a Year 6 paper. You should be able to do most of it. Don’t worry if it pushes you a little out of your comfort zone. 30 -45 minutes is enough time to spend on your homework. The answers are also included if you wish to self-mark at the end.
