Y3 final post for the day!

Dear all,

For our science lesson on Monday 26th June, the children will be creating a ‘Mirror Maze’ to look at the effects of reflected light. In order to do this, can I please ask that the  children bring in either a cereal box, a shoe box, or a cardboard box. I will also try to get some together.

Sorry for the late notice!

Year 3 Hazard Alley

On Monday, Year 3 went to Hazard Alley. They had a great time and experience, learning about emergency situations. They even had the experience of making a 999 call! They behaved impeccably and were a credit to the school.

Year 3 Class Mass

Please note that the Year 3 Class Mass to celebrate First Holy Communions has had a change of date. The class Mass will now take place on Monday 3rd July. I would ask that on this date, the children bring in their outfits in a named bag.

Thank you, and I apologise for any confusion caused.

Y3 Notices

Dear all,

This is just a few notices for the coming weeks.

Instrumental Concert

This Wednesday, it is the instrumental concert. Mrs Goldsmith has asked that the children remember to bring in their recorders for this. The children know which songs they are to practise for this.

Class Mass

Next Monday, we have a class Mass to celebrate the children taking their First Holy Communion. The children are invited to bring in their clothes that they wore to their First Holy Communion. Should the children do so, can they please bring this in, preferably on a hanger, in a named bag, suit bag or dress bag. The children need to know what is in their bag. The children should come into school in their normal school uniform.

If the children have not yet taken their First Holy Communion, they are invited to bring in a smart dress or smart clothes.

Community Mass at Nicholas Breakspear

Next Friday, we will be going to a Community Mass. We have been told that the children can bring in their trainers in a named bag as the children will be playing rounders. Can the children additionally bring in a packed lunch for the day, and preferably a sun hat.

Thank you.

Y3 Homework 16.6.17

For maths this week, I would like the children to go onto MyMaths and complete a range of activities which I have set. These are on time and interpreting data. Could we also encourage the children to be telling the time at different points throughout the day, and be asking questions such as, “How many minutes until…?” This will really move their learning forward.

For English, I would like the children to complete some grammar activities in the English homework books, which are attached.

Task 42 – Choosing suitables words

Task 36 – Essential Words in Sentences

Y3 Homework – Apologies!

I have just realised that I did not attach the Maths homework for this week. I apologise for this! Can the children complete this by Friday to make up for the time lost, and we will look at it in class. Here is the attachment:

First Holy Communions

As part of our Design and Technology topic last term, the children all created a photo frame, ensuring that it was a stable structure which could stand alone. The end products look absolutely fantastic!

Their design brief was to make something which would be suitable to hold their First Holy Communion photographs. As such, can I please ask that you are able to get a photo which can be printed at size 6×4. Some children have completed a portrait photo frame, and some have completed a landscape photo frame. They should be able to tell you which they have created! Could their photos therefore please accommodate the style of photo frame that they chose to complete.

I look forward to seeing all of the children this weekend and next weekend, and sharing a very special day with them.

Y3 Homework 9.6.17

Attached is the Maths homework for this week. This involves multiplying a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number. We have looked at a range of strategies in class over this week, so I would like the children to choose the strategy which they are comfortable with, and answer the questions in their Maths Homework books.

For their English homework, I would like the children to complete some more grammar questions. This can again be completed on the sheet, and we will look through them next Wednesday.

The children have revisited some of the prefixes and spelling rules that we looked at earlier in the year. These include the prefixes ‘dis-‘ and ‘un-‘. We will be looking at spelling some words with these prefixes together as a class on Friday.
